Home care service Halensee: nursing at home around Rathenauplatz

A small locality between the Ringbahn, the city motorway and the upper Kurfürstendamm — period buildings, short distances, many rear courtyard houses. Our office is at Heilbronner Str. 1, right inside the area. We are taking on new clients: 030 64828209.

Halensee is one of the smallest localities in the borough and one of the densest: around 12,000 people between Kurfürstendamm, Westfälische Straße, the lake itself and the A 100 motorway. Most people live in pre-war blocks, often in a side wing or a rear building, frequently without a lift. For a care round this is the best possible arrangement — the addresses lie close together, one visit follows the next within minutes. That is precisely why short visits several times a day are realistic here: insulin in the morning, at midday and in the evening, for instance.

The provider is Sonnenstrahlen Pflege UG (haftungsbeschränkt), approved for care benefits in kind under SGB XI and for medically prescribed home nursing under § 37 SGB V. People with statutory insurance receive no bill from us; we invoice the health insurer (Krankenkasse) and the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) directly. Privately insured clients receive an itemised statement for their policy. We work in German, English and Russian, and we answer enquiries the same working day.

Our office at Heilbronner Str. 1, 10711 Berlin, is inside the locality itself. This page covers Halensee alone; Wilmersdorf east of Westfälische Straße, Grunewald beyond the motorway and Schmargendorf have pages of their own.

What we cover between Rathenauplatz and the Halensee lake

Morning shift in a lift-free period building

Washing at the basin or in the shower, dressing, the walk from bed to armchair. Four flights of stairs in a side wing are the norm here, not the exception — they are built into the round planning so that the appointment time holds.

Everything written on the Muster 12 prescription

Insulin to schedule, dressing changes, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, compression stockings from class II upwards, catheters and stoma care. Because the distances are short, three visits a day at the same address can be planned too.

Wound care instead of a trip to the surgery

Venous leg ulcers, pressure sores, sutures after an operation — treated at the prescribed interval and documented by size, wound edge and exudate. Anyone unsteady on their feet is spared the walk across the Kurfürstendamm.

Hours in which relatives are free

A turn around the Halensee lake, company on a shopping trip along Westfälische Straße, an afternoon with someone to talk to. This is paid for from the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI, which is available from care level (Pflegegrad) 1 onwards.

Two postcodes, one compact locality

Halensee carries the postcodes 10709 and 10711. We drive to Rathenauplatz, the upper Kurfürstendamm, Nestorstraße and Katharinenstraße, Georg-Wilhelm-Straße, Heilbronner Straße with our office, Küstriner Straße and the buildings along the Kurfürstendamm as far as the motorway. East of Westfälische Straße, Wilmersdorf begins; beyond the A 100 lies the Grunewald — we serve both as well, but they have pages of their own. Whether your street lies on one of our rounds is settled in two minutes on the phone: 030 64828209.

What is covered, from when and by whom

Prescribed medical home nursing (Behandlungspflege) is paid for by the health insurer (Krankenkasse). What matters is the day the doctor's practice signs: if the Muster 12 reaches the insurer within three working days of being issued, the visits are covered retrospectively from that day, including those made while it is being assessed (§ 6 Abs. 6 HKP-Richtlinie). Adults pay ten per cent of the daily cost under § 61 SGB V for a maximum of 28 treatment days a year, plus ten euros per prescription (Verordnung); anyone who is exempt pays none of it.

With the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) it is the care level (Pflegegrad) that counts. The benefits-in-kind budget under § 36 SGB XI is available from care level 2 and covers personal care (Grundpflege), housekeeping and companionship; at care level 1 the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI remains. What it will actually cost you we say only after the free home visit — in writing, with the insurer's share and your own contribution shown separately.

From the first call to the first morning shift

  1. You tell us what is needed: One call to 030 64828209 is enough. With the street and house number it is immediately clear whether your address is still in Halensee or already in Wilmersdorf.
  2. Home visit, often within two days: From Heilbronner Straße most addresses can be reached on foot. A qualified nurse looks at the bathroom, the stairwell and the entryphone and notes which tasks are needed and when. The visit costs nothing.
  3. The Muster 12 goes off at once: We take the prescription (Verordnung) to the health insurer (Krankenkasse) within three working days, so that cover starts on the day it was issued. If there is no care level (Pflegegrad) yet, we file the application with the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) in parallel.
  4. The first shift rings your doorbell: You receive firm appointment times and a small, settled team; your named nurse comes along on the first visit.

From Rathenauplatz to Nestorstraße

Which Halensee addresses do you serve regularly?

Both postcodes of the locality: 10709 and 10711 — that is Rathenauplatz, the upper Kurfürstendamm, Nestorstraße and Katharinenstraße, Georg-Wilhelm-Straße, Heilbronner Straße, Küstriner Straße and Westfälische Straße. Wilmersdorf and Grunewald have pages of their own.

Are several visits a day possible?

In Halensee more readily than elsewhere. Because distances within the locality are short, visits in the morning, at midday and in the evening can be planned at the same address, for insulin for example. Whether it works out in your particular case depends on the rota — and you will get a firm commitment, not a vague one.

Fourth floor, no lift — is that a problem?

No, that is the normal case here. More important than the stairs is access: a key with relatives, a key safe by the flat door, or a working entryphone. Once that is settled, the morning shift is at your door on time.

Do we have to wait for the insurer's approval?

No. Once the practice has signed the Muster 12 we may start. If the form reaches the health insurer (Krankenkasse) by the third working day after that, the insurer covers the cost retrospectively from the day it was issued (§ 6 Abs. 6 HKP-Richtlinie). For personal care and companionship, by contrast, it is the care level (Pflegegrad) that decides.

Without a recognised care level — is anything still possible?

Medical home nursing (Behandlungspflege) yes; it depends on the doctor's prescription alone. Personal care and companionship require an assessment: benefits in kind under § 36 SGB XI from care level 2, and at care level 1 the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI. We fill in the application together with you.

Where is the office, and do you work at night?

At Heilbronner Str. 1, 10711 Berlin — inside the locality itself; please come by appointment only. Further offices are at Theodor-Heuss-Platz 1 in Westend and Sickingenstr. 52 in Moabit. We do not work nights.

The office is on Heilbronner Straße

The telephone: 030 64828209. Post goes to info@sonnenstrahlen-pflege.de. Give us your postcode and house number and you will know at once whether your address lies on a Halensee round. The visit to your home costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
