Home care service in Wedding – nursing care in 13353
A licensed home care service, reachable on 030 64828209: in Wedding we cover the postcode 13353 only, that is the Sprengelkiez up to Augustenburger Platz. Our main office sits just south of the Föhrer Brücke, Sickingenstraße 52 in the district of Moabit. If a different Wedding postcode is on your letterbox, the address lies outside our care area.
Wedding is large; our care area within it is not. Of all the Wedding postcodes we serve 13353 alone: Sprengelkiez, Sparrplatz, Torfstraße, Fennstraße and on up to Augustenburger Platz. Between your flat and our desk lie the Föhrer Brücke and barely two kilometres – the address is Sickingenstraße 52 and already belongs to the district of Moabit. The Westhafen counts as Moabit too, although it carries the 13353 postcode. The remaining Wedding postcodes, by contrast, are not part of the area; we do not set up a round there even as a one-off. We would rather name that boundary now than too late.
The provider is Sonnenstrahlen Pflege UG (haftungsbeschränkt), registered twice with the funds: a care provision contract under SGB XI for care benefits in kind, plus approval for home nursing care under § 37 SGB V. If you have statutory insurance, you need not concern yourself with the billing – it runs directly between us and your health insurer (Krankenkasse) or long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse). With private health insurance the invoice goes to you; how much of it is reimbursed is decided by your policy. We speak German, Russian and English. We are currently able to take on new clients, an answer reaches you within the same working day, and the first consultation in your home costs nothing.
What we provide in 13353
Behandlungspflege (medical home nursing) on prescription
Insulin, dressing changes, compression stockings from compression class II and filling the weekly pill box – at fixed times. If the Verordnung (prescription) reaches the health insurer within the first three working days after it was issued, the insurer pays from the date of issue; no waiting period until approval arises.
Grundpflege (personal care) according to your Pflegegrad (care level)
Washing and dressing in the morning, help going to bed in the evening. How often and how long we come depends on the recognised Pflegegrad (care level) and on the rhythm of your day.
Everyday help in the Sprengelkiez
Accompaniment to the doctor's surgery, a turn around Sparrplatz, conversation and a few free hours for relatives – payable from the Entlastungsbetrag (relief amount) that the Pflegekasse provides every month from care level 1 onwards (§ 45b SGB XI).
Taking over after a hospital stay
After a discharge, for instance from the Virchow-Klinikum at Augustenburger Platz, we step in on the agreed day and settle supplies, times and paperwork with the hospital's social services.
Our area in Wedding and immediately next door
In Wedding it stays at 13353, that is the Sprengelkiez up to Augustenburger Platz. South of the railway line Moabit begins; there 10551, 10553, 10555, 10557 and 10559 belong to our rounds. North of that the area ends – from Leopoldplatz over the Schillerpark to the Afrikanisches Viertel we do not drive.

What does care in Wedding cost?
From Pflegegrad (care level) 2 the Pflegekasse provides a budget for benefits in kind month after month, governed by § 36 SGB XI. If the agreed visits fit within that frame, nothing is left for you to pay. If more care is given than the budget covers, we charge the difference privately – announced beforehand, not first on the invoice. Care level 1 does not have this monthly budget: there the only pot is the Entlastungsbetrag (relief amount) provided for in § 45b SGB XI, out of which support and domestic help can be paid. Whatever adds up in your case, we set it down in writing after the first consultation.
Behandlungspflege (medical home nursing) under SGB V runs from a different pot. Your surgery issues the Verordnung (prescription), we submit it to the health insurer within the deadline – payment runs from the date of issue, including the days on which the insurer is still assessing it; that is laid down in § 6 Abs. 6 of the HKP-Richtlinie. Adults continue to contribute to the costs, as § 61 SGB V requires: one tenth of what arises on a day of care, and only for the first 28 days of care in a year, plus ten euros for each Verordnung issued. If you hold an exemption, a single look at the notice is enough for us.
Four steps to the first appointment
- A call with your postcode: You describe the situation and give the street and postcode. In that same call we tell you whether the address falls within our area.
- A reply within one working day: We come back to you and propose a date for the first consultation – if the enquiry comes from a hospital, we speak to the social services directly.
- We ring your bell in the Sprengelkiez: At the agreed time we sit at your table: looking at the kitchen, the bathroom and the way to the front door, noting down what is needed, the Pflegegrad (care level), the Verordnung (prescription) and the times. We charge nothing for this.
- Round plan and start: You receive fixed visit times and a small team. We inform the surgery and the insurer, after which care begins in 13353.
Questions from the Sprengelkiez
Do you cover the whole of Wedding?
No. In Wedding we serve 13353 only: Sprengelkiez, Sparrplatz, Torfstraße, Fennstraße, Amrumer Straße, Augustenburger Platz. Immediately to the south we cover Moabit with 10551, 10553, 10555, 10557 and 10559. The six remaining Wedding postcodes lie outside our care area; we accept no work there, not even at short notice. A promised time that we could not keep because of the journey is of no use to you.
Do I have to wait for the insurer's approval first?
No, that is a widespread misunderstanding. As soon as the surgery has issued the Verordnung (prescription), we may begin: if the form arrives at the health insurer by the third following working day at the latest, the insurer bears the costs from the day of issue, and does so for the time up to its decision as well – you can read it in the HKP-Richtlinie, § 6 Abs. 6. Grundpflege (personal care) and support depend on something else; there the recognised Pflegegrad (care level) counts. We answer your enquiry within one working day; in the case of a hospital discharge we set the starting day with the social services.
Who pays for care in Wedding – the Pflegekasse or the Krankenkasse?
That is decided by the service. Washing, dressing, domestic work and support are met by the Pflegekasse (long-term care insurance fund): from care level 2 out of the benefits-in-kind budget provided for in § 36 SGB XI, at care level 1 by contrast solely out of the Entlastungsbetrag. Prescribed Behandlungspflege is charged to the Krankenkasse (health insurer) – where the form is submitted on time, already from the day the Verordnung was issued, so without a waiting period until approval. For people with statutory insurance we handle the paperwork with both funds ourselves; privately insured clients submit our invoice to their own policy.
We speak Russian at home – can you manage that?
Yes. Russian and English are part of our working day, German in any case. In Wedding it is often the children or grandchildren who translate for their parents; where our languages fit, we explain dosage, dressing changes and letters from the insurer directly to the person who needs the care. Tell us your preferred language when you register, and we will staff the round accordingly, as far as the rota allows – it is not a guarantee for every visit.
What do I need a Verordnung for, and what do I need a Pflegegrad for?
Behandlungspflege under SGB V – injections, dressing changes, administering medication, compression stockings from compression class II – requires a doctor's Verordnung (prescription). Without it the health insurer cannot pay; as a self-funded service the measure remains possible all the same. For Grundpflege, support and relief it is the recognised Pflegegrad (care level) that counts instead. If it has not yet been recognised, we help with the application and prepare you for the visit from the Medizinischer Dienst.
Where is your office, and how do you get to 13353?
Your round is planned at Sickingenstraße 52, 10553 Berlin – district of Moabit, a few minutes south of 13353. Over the Föhrer Brücke and past the Westhafen, our carers are quickly in the Sprengelkiez. Two further offices lie in the west of the city: Heilbronner Str. 1 in Halensee and Theodor-Heuss-Platz 1 in Westend. We do not offer a night service or round-the-clock on-call cover; our visits follow a fixed round plan.
