030 64828209 – call now

Schöneberg is the most populous locality we serve, and one of the most varied: the Bayerisches Viertel with its quiet squares, the Akazienkiez around Hauptstraße, the streets by Nollendorfplatz and Winterfeldtplatz, the Crellekiez and the Rote Insel between the railway lines, and the rows of flats along Dominicusstraße by the town hall (Rathaus Schöneberg). Almost everyone here lives in a pre-war building, often in a rear wing and without a lift. Because the addresses lie close together, several visits a day can be scheduled here — insulin morning and evening, for instance, without half the city in between.

The service is run by Sonnenstrahlen Pflege UG (haftungsbeschränkt), approved for care benefits in kind under SGB XI and for doctor-prescribed home nursing under § 37 SGB V. If you are insured with a statutory fund you never get a bill from us; we settle directly with the health insurer (Krankenkasse) and the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse). Privately insured clients receive an itemised list of the visits made, for their own policy. We work in German, English and Russian, and we answer enquiries the same working day.

This page covers the locality of Schöneberg. North of the Landwehrkanal, Tiergarten begins; south of the Ringbahn, Friedenau — both have pages of their own and are served as well.

What we do between Winterfeldtplatz and the Rote Insel

The morning round in a pre-war building without a lift

A wash at the basin or in the shower, dressing, the walk from bed to armchair. Four floors up in a rear wing is the norm here; it is written into the round planning so that the agreed time holds.

Everything set out on the Muster 12

Insulin to schedule, dressing changes, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, compression stockings from class II upwards, catheters and stoma care. Because the distances are short, two or three visits a day at the same address can be planned.

Wound care instead of a trip to the surgery

Ulcus cruris, pressure sores, sutures after an operation at the Auguste-Viktoria-Klinikum — treated at the prescribed interval and documented by size, wound edge and exudate.

Hours in which relatives are off duty

A walk across the Winterfeldtmarkt, company on a shopping trip along Hauptstraße, an afternoon of conversation. This is paid for out of the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI, which is available from care level (Pflegegrad) 1 onwards.

From Bülowstraße to Dominicusstraße

The locality carries, among others, the postcodes 10777, 10779, 10781, 10783, 10789, 10823, 10825, 10827 and 10829. We serve Nollendorfplatz and Winterfeldtplatz, the Bayerisches Viertel around Viktoria-Luise-Platz, Bayerischer Platz and Barbarossaplatz, the Akazienkiez on Hauptstraße, the Crellekiez and Kolonnenstraße, the Rote Insel, the streets by Rathaus Schöneberg and the area at the edge of Südkreuz. Tiergarten adjoins to the north, Friedenau to the south. Whether your street is on one of our rounds takes two minutes to settle on the phone: 030 64828209.

What is covered, from when and by whom

Prescribed medical home nursing (Behandlungspflege) is paid for by the health insurer (Krankenkasse). What matters is the day the doctor's surgery signs: if the Muster 12 reaches the insurer within three working days of being issued, the visits made while it is being assessed are covered retrospectively from the date of issue as well (§ 6 Abs. 6 HKP-Richtlinie). Adults pay, under § 61 SGB V, ten per cent of the daily costs for a maximum of 28 treatment days a year, plus ten euros per prescription (Verordnung); anyone who is exempt pays none of it.

With the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) the care level (Pflegegrad) decides. The benefits-in-kind budget under § 36 SGB XI is available from care level 2 for personal care (Grundpflege), housekeeping and companionship; at care level 1 the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI remains. Whatever is left as your own contribution we tell you only after the free home visit — in writing, with the insurer's share and your own share set out separately.

From the first call to the first morning round

  1. You tell us what is needed: One call to 030 64828209 is enough. With the street and house number it is immediately clear whether your address is still in Schöneberg or already in Tiergarten or Friedenau.
  2. A home visit, usually in the same week: A qualified nurse looks at the bathroom, the stairwell and the entryphone and notes which tasks are needed at which time of day. The visit costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
  3. The Muster 12 goes off at once: We take the prescription (Verordnung) to the health insurer within three working days, so that cover starts on the date of issue. If there is no care level yet, we file the application with the long-term care insurance fund at the same time.
  4. The first shift rings your bell: You get firm times and a small, settled team; your named nurse comes along on the first visit.

From the Bayerisches Viertel to the Akazienkiez

Which Schöneberg addresses do you serve regularly?

The locality with postcodes 10777 to 10829: Nollendorfplatz, Winterfeldtplatz, Bayerisches Viertel, Akazienkiez, Crellekiez, Rote Insel and the streets by Rathaus Schöneberg. Tiergarten to the north and Friedenau to the south have pages of their own.

Are several visits a day possible?

Yes. Because the Schöneberg addresses lie close together, visits at the same address can be planned morning and evening — and at midday if needed — for insulin or compression, for example. What is possible in your case we confirm bindingly after the home visit.

Fourth floor in a rear wing — will you still come?

Yes, that is the rule here. More important than the stairs is access: a key with relatives, a key safe at the flat door, or a working entryphone. Once that is settled, the morning shift is at the door on time.

Do we have to wait for the insurer's approval?

No. As soon as the surgery has signed the Muster 12, we may start. If the form reaches the health insurer by the third working day after that, the insurer covers the costs retrospectively from the date of issue (§ 6 Abs. 6 HKP-Richtlinie). For personal care and companionship, the care level decides.

Without a recognised care level — is anything still possible?

Medical home nursing (Behandlungspflege) yes, it depends solely on the doctor's prescription. Personal care and companionship require an assessment: benefits in kind under § 36 SGB XI from care level 2, and at care level 1 the relief amount (Entlastungsbetrag) under § 45b SGB XI. We fill in the application together with you and tell you beforehand what the Medizinischer Dienst will ask about.

Where is the office, and do you work at night?

Your care is planned at Sickingenstr. 52, 10553 Berlin-Moabit — by appointment only, please. Two further offices are in the west of the city: Heilbronner Str. 1 in Halensee and Theodor-Heuss-Platz 1 in Westend. We do not work nights.

One call settles whether your street is included

The telephone: 030 64828209. Post goes to info@sonnenstrahlen-pflege.de. Give us the postcode and house number and you will know straight away whether your address is on a Schöneberg round. The visit to your home costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
